How to access
You can email or call to register as a client of the foodbank (calling is easier). They collect basic personal information such as your name and date of birth. Providing your address is optional. Once you are registered, they will book you in for an appointment to come into the food bank. Appointments are 30 minutes. Your household will be given a monthly “point’s” budget based on your household size. This will be used to determine how much food you are able to get. They do not ask for ID or income.
About this service
You can visit the food bank up to two times each month. Each visit, clients use their points to “shop” for groceries. Available items typically include: non-perishables, dairy, freezer, snacks, produce, household items, personal care, and pets. Every item in the food bank is assigned a “points” value, similar to a grocery store price system. Clients can choose how they want to spend their points across their visits (you can spend all your points for the month in 1 visit if you to choose to visit once a month OR you split your monthly points between 2 visits if you choose to visit twice in 1 month). 3 different types of support are available:
1. In-Person Shopping:
Items within the food bank have a point’s price marked on the shelves. As you shop, they will help keep track of your point’s budget.
Bring your own bags with you to your shop and we will give you 3 additional points!
2. Porch-Pick up:
Over the phone, a team member will review a grocery list with you to ensure they understand your household's needs and preferences. At the date and time set, your order will be ready for pickup at their side door
Typically takes place on Thursday afternoons
3. Express Bags
Available when someone cannot wait for a scheduled appointment
Provides a pre-packed bag of essential groceries
Designed to bridge the gap until the next available visit
Limited customization (except for allergies or dietary restrictions)
Does not count against the monthly points allowance
Who it's for
The food bank is available to everyone. While it primarily serves households within Brock Township, it will not turn anyone away and will provide support whenever possible.
