About this service
The food bank provides emergency food support to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity. Clients may access the food bank once per calendar month and will receive approximately seven days' worth of groceries. Food hampers include a combination of fresh and non-perishable items, with more than 50% of the food provided consisting of fresh products such as produce, dairy, meat, and bread.
Individuals are able to select foods that best meet their household's needs. Cultural preferences, dietary restrictions, and other individual needs are respected to help ensure the food provided is appropriate and usable.
Who it's for
The program is available to anyone who requires food assistance and does not require proof of income or financial eligibility
How to access
1. Go to The Sharing Place Food Centre. They operate on a drop-in basis – no appointment or referral is required.
2. Bring valid ID for yourself and each member of your household. This is how they will determine household size, which will help determine how much food you get
3. Check in with staff to complete registration, so they can document your visit
4. Volunteers will assist you in selecting available food items that best meet your household’s needs and preferences. Bringing reusable grocery bags is recommended
Notes
For individuals who are unable to attend the food bank due to accessibility challenges, food deliveries may be available. Call to learn more.
