Housekeeper – Home Support ServicesOne-Year Contract

Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes (CCCKL) is seeking dependable Housekeeping applicants for a one-year contract. As an integral part of the Home Support Services team, Housekeepers will provide support with a variety of housekeeping and home maintenance activities across a variety of shifts.

Fully paid health, dental and sick benefits will be provided for selected applicants who accept contracted terms of one-year and a FTE of .80 (60 hours bi-weekly schedule).

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide housekeeping services to clients, including; housecleaning, dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors, washing dishes/ countertops, cleaning and disinfecting bathrooms, laundry, ironing, bedding preparation, mending and other household activities as directed
  • Report to Management any observation of relevant client information
  • Support clients in carrying out household housekeeping activities
  • Understand, respect and promote the agency’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Carry out other responsibilities as outlined in the job description and service agreements

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment an asset

  • Ability to work evening, night, weekend and statutory holiday shifts
  • Maintain current CPR & First Aid

Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes, Foundation, is seeking a Fund Development Coordinator, who reports to the Fund Development Manager of our Foundation, to successfully implement the annual Fund Development and Operating Plans. The successful incumbent will work with volunteers and donors to communicate the impact of the work and outcomes of both the Foundation and Community Care City of Kawartha Lakes.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supports the execution of strategies identified in the Fund Development Plan to achieve fundraising targets under the direction of the Manager
  • Supports the implementation of the annual Operating Plan to ensure a comprehensive fundraising approach is mobilized
  • Researches and executes on fundraising strategies that could include:  Signature Events, Annual Direct Appeals, Sponsorship, Raffles, Planned Giving, Major Gifts, Grant and Applications
  • Under the direction of the manager, engages internal and external stakeholders in the Works with internal stakeholders to develop winning cases for support and supplemental material used in solicitations and stewardship
  • Solicit sponsorships for fundraising events and activities
  • Assist in recruiting, orienting and supporting volunteers interested in cultivation and solicitation activities
  • Actively work within the Donor Perfect database to ensure accuracy of gift processing, reporting, donor records and execution of fund development strategies. 
  • Tracks grant deadlines and submission of reports and applications
  • Supports the cultivation and stewardship of donor engagement
  • Supports the planning and execution of  communication and marketing material to promote fund development and awareness

Key Requirements:

Education and Training:

  • Post-Secondary Education in fundraising or equivalent work experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a related fundraising environment

Skills, Abilities and Behaviours:

  • Experience working through the solicitation cycle with successful outcomes
  • Experience with volunteer coordination an asset
  • Superior interpersonal, relationship building and solicitation skills
  • Demonstrated verbal communication abilities including presentation and public speaking skills
  • Professional demeanor; ability to interact with a wide and varied network of people
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to prioritize multiple and changing demands
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Community-minded individual who is progressive, innovative, dedicated and effective
  • Ability to flex work schedule to attend meetings and special events which occur before or after regular office hours
  • Demonstrated organizational, communication skills and organizational effectiveness
  • Broad understanding of DEI principles of inclusivity
  • This role requires the successful incumbent to be available for flexible scheduling, lift up to 50lbs, and requires a reliable means of transportation within the City limits.

 Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide palliative care coaching and mentoring to staff and clinicians in participating community organizations, to build primary-level palliative care competencies.
  • Collaborate with leaders of community organizations on local service integration, and change management initiatives, using quality improvement methodologies to achieve results.
  • Consult on clinical care when the complexity of the patients’ needs is beyond the existing competencies of providers (in the community organizations).
  • Provide support to Indigenous communities and Indigenous organizations for their implementation efforts, where Indigenous communities wish to be involved, in collaboration with regional partners.
  • Co-create the regional Delivery Framework implementation plan with Ontario Health, including required measurement and reporting.
  • Ensure alignment of community implementation with the guidance of the Ontario Palliative Care Network
  • Guide palliative care quality improvement (QI) and practice change initiatives in participating community organizations.

Hours: We will consider flexible options of employment including job sharing and/or Part time.

Education & Experience:

  • A degree in a registered health care discipline with substantive experience and training in palliative care (e.g., CAPCE). A graduate degree is an asset.
  • Minimum five (5) years’ experience in practice in palliative care is required.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and reporting requirements, including the Fixing Long-Term Care Homes Act, the Excellent Care for All Act and the Compassionate Care Act and other pertinent legislation and regulations related to professional practice is required.
  • Experience supervising clinical staff is preferred.
  • Experience working with large-scale quality improvement initiatives.
  • Additional training in gerontology and project management experience are assets.
  • Strong clinical coaching and debriefing skills, with both individuals and teams.
  • Strong consultation skills, with expert knowledge of models of consultation and their application with individual, team and community service providers.
  • Research and/or program evaluation experience with knowledge of evidence-based processes, including appraisal of research, application of findings and collaboration on research.
  • Experience working with a range of roles, disciplines, and levels of staff in different health care settings.
  • Experience working across health care settings.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • A commitment to developing equity-based, evidence-informed approaches for delivering palliative care services for all people in Ontario, regardless of their age or illness
  • A good understanding of regional priorities and local health care needs, within Ontario’s health care landscape.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and use good judgment in assessing difficult situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Aptitude for proactive problem solving, using strong critical thinking, and negotiating skills.
  • A demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate training and coaching efforts.
  • An ability to develop relationships based on trust, compassion, and empathy.
  • Strong active listening and interpersonal communication skills for one-on-one coaching.
  • Experience designing education to effectively address palliative care training needs of inter-professional learners.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience with culturally responsive teaching
  • A demonstrated focus on person-centred care.
  • Supports the advancement of equity, inclusion, and diversity across Ontario’s health care system.
  • Commitment to engage with First Nations, Indigenous, Métis and urban Indigenous people as they self-determine their own approach to palliative care.
  • Proficiency in educational technologies (e.g., webinars, apps) as well as knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Access to reliable and efficient mode(s) of transportation to enable travel between community organizations.

Effort – Physical/Sensory Demands:

Work involves minimal to moderate physical effort normally associated with both office and client-facing environments.  There is flexibility to change work activities, take a break or alter work position. 

Working Conditions:

Normal office environment as well as work in client-facing environments with no unusual or unpleasant conditions.  Travel within the Ontario Health Region or the assigned geographic catchment area is required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Assist clients with all aspects of activities of daily living while maintaining dignity and privacy in an individualized client-focused manner.
  • Collaborate with the care team to provide and promote excellence in client care.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and snacks, including special diets, as determined by the care plan.
  • Provide basic homemaking tasks and companionship to help clients enjoy a better quality of life.
  • Complete and document all aspects of support in the client database as per standard operating procedures.
  • Other responsibilities as outlined in the job description.  

KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION

  • Successful completion of an Accredited Personal Support Worker (PSW) program through an accredited college or training facility or educational or experience and equivalency
  • Current enrolment in an educational program for Registered Nurses or Registered Practical Nurses and adequate skill and knowledge to perform the duties of a Personal Support Worker. Proof of enrollment is required.
